Main duties of the job
Jobsummary:
The practice is looking for an experiencedRespiratory Nurse ideally with a background in Primary Care. There will be anexpectation to also consider Treatment Room duties, but you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery ofsafe and effective nursing care to the respiratory practice population We arelooking for someone with proven experience and qualifications in Asthma, COPDand Spirometry and focus ofthe role is to delivery of evidence-based practice to patients The post holderwill work collaboratively with the whole general practice and attached teams tomeet the needs of patients.

Brunel PCN5 consists of 5 practices - Victoria Cross Surgery, Lakeside Practice, Eldene Surgery, Abbey Meads Medical Practice and Penhill Surgery. We currently have an excellent clinical team which includes: GPs, Clinical Nurse Managers, Practice Nurses, Paramedic Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners /Prescribers, Health Care Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Mental Health Nurse, First Contact Physiotherapist, Health & Wellbeing Coach and Social Prescribers

Job responsibilities
Essentialrespiratory care to include:
Assist in and perform routine tasksrelated to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
Chaperoning and assisting patients whereappropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Requesting pathology tests
Following agreed clinical protocols withreferral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Maintain general tidiness andcleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
Participate in respiratory clinics -diagnose, review, and manage patients with respiratory conditions
Deliver patient education on inhalertechniques, smoking cessation, and personalised management plans
Contribute to quality improvement
Participate in respiratory clinics
Keyduties and responsibilities
Clinicalpractice
Work with other health careprofessionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat Respiratory conditions
Review medication for therapeuticeffectiveness
Work with patients to support adherenceto prescribed treatments
Implement and evaluate programmes thatpromote health and well-being (e.g. smoking cessation and weight management)
Preparing and maintaining environmentsand equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Delivering a quality service
Recognise and work within own competenceand professional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing and MidwiferyCouncil (NMC)
Produce accurate, contemporaneous andcomplete records of patient consultations, consistent with legislation,policies and procedures
Prioritise, organise and manage ownworkload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality
Deliver care according to the NationalInstitute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines and evidence-based acre
In partnership with other clinicalteams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care, responding to localand national policy initiatives as appropriate
Evaluate the patients response tohealth care provision and the effectiveness of care
Support and participate in sharedlearning across the practice and wider organisation
Participate in the management, reviewand identify learning from patient complaints and significant events
Work within policies relating todomestic abuse and vulnerable people and refer as appropriate

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC Registration
* A legal right to work in the UK
* Post registration COPD recognised qualification
* Post registration Asthma recognised qualification
* Spirometry and interpretation or willing to achieve
* General Practice Experience
* Good interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to effectively manage own time and workload.
* Evidence of problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Good team player.
* Flexible approach.
* Experience in conducting reviews of patients with long term conditions
* Ability to reflect on own and team practice and make suggestions on ways to improve and enhance team performance.
* Understanding in health, safety and infection control issues.
