IT Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship – Wakefield Office / August, 2025
We are currently looking to appoint an entry level IT Apprentice to join our in-house IT helpdesk based in Wakefield.
This is a great opportunity to start your IT career with The Harris Group (THG). You’ll be joining an expanding business which requires a growing support team.
Your Role
The focus for you as an apprentice with THG is for you to obtain qualifications and the necessary skills to be successful within our team. We do this by:
* Learning with Baltic to complete a Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship
* In-work training time provided via an online learning portal
* Shadowing and sharing knowledge within the team
While you learn, the practical side of work helps you put your learning into practice. As a helpdesk apprentice your responsibilities include:
* Providing first line remote and in person support to the 7 offices within The Harris Group via our ticket system, emails, messages and phone calls.
* Accurately logging, tracking and prioritising helpdesk requests using our ticket system
* Following IT standard procedures and policies
* Maintaining user accounts across multiple systems
* Configuring both hardware and software
* Troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
* When required, escalating issues to external suppliers or contacts
Requirements
With this being an entry level role, even though experience with IT is preferred, it isn’t at the top of our list. We want someone who:
* Has a keen interest in IT and is willing to learn alongside working
* Has strong communication and customer service skills
* Can organise their workloads to meet deadlines
* Is reliable and is willing to ask questions when unsure
Technical skills that would benefit you include:
* Having a basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows OS (10 & 11)
* Having a basic knowledge of Windows PCs, laptops and mobiles (iOS and Android)
* Having knowledge of some basic IT troubleshooting techniques
* Has an interest or experience with CAD software
