Responsibilities
* Transport Contract Manager to work within the Integrated Transport Services Team based in the East of the County, Network 65 Business Park, Hapton, Burnley.
* Work as part of a busy and responsive team; responsible for Home to School (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) and Adult Day Care transport services.
* Plan and resource journeys internally (using our fleet of minibuses) and externally with approved Private Hire and Taxi suppliers.
* Manage a large number of contracts, monitor performance, review efficiency and cost effectiveness, and ensure compliance.
* Build strong network relationships with other departments within the authority and with Schools and Daytime Support Centres in your allocated area and in support of colleagues.
* Manage a team of Passenger Assistants including recruitment and induction, work allocation, Performance and Development Appraisals, Training Plans, monitoring working time and approving pay records.
* Absence management and low-level disciplinary issues are also a key part of the role.
* This role supports vulnerable communities, helping children with SEND and adults accessing day services to get to their destinations each day.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of staff and contract management with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied and large workload.
* Excellent communication, organisational and people skills; proficient with IT systems including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams; ability to learn new specialist software while maintaining high levels of customer service.
* Ability to lead, supervise and organise a team; awareness and empathy of the needs of people with SEND and their families.

We are seeking an excellent communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a wider team. Ability to build effective working relationships with other service areas and colleagues, understanding their needs while communicating difficult messages when needed. Maintains professionalism and courtesy under pressure when dealing with a wide and complex variety of scenarios.
