Overview
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer – Field Based. The role is based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. The team is national with officers based across England and requires national travel and overnight stays.
Responsibilities
* Undertake audits (on site and virtual)
* Take appropriate enforcement action when necessary
* Disrupt non-compliance
* Collate and analyse complex data to inform evidence-based regulation decisions
* Handle confidential and sensitive information within data protection guidelines
* Contribute to the development and improvement of processes and procedures
Working Environment
The role is varied and challenging. You will work as part of a dispersed team while remaining self-motivated and disciplined. The Environment Agency supports flexible working patterns, including job share. The role includes national travel and overnight stays. A hybrid working approach (office and home) is used where possible.
Team and Objectives
We aim to improve recycling quality, monitor compliance within the industry, and follow the Regulators code in delivering work. The team comprises Regulatory Officers, Senior Technical Officers, and Digital Specialists who focus on delivering digital requirements. The aim is to regulate industry, ensure compliance, and deter illegal activities to protect and improve the environment.
Experience and Skills
We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds. Full training will be provided; waste industry or regulatory experience is not mandatory. You should be able to demonstrate the following capabilities and behaviours:

* IT/computer literate
* Comfortable with numbers and large data sets
* Passionate about the environment and willing to learn about environmental regulation/enforcement
Additionally, you should be able to:
