We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Responder to support the delivery of Integrated Urgent Care services across Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath and North East Somerset.
About the Role
Our Clinical Responders work as an integral part of our Clinician Assessment Service, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Based at our call-centre in Chippenham, you will provide advice to patients and health and social care professionals who access care by telephone in accordance with agreed care pathways, within the Out of Hours period of weekday evenings and weekends.
In addition, our Clinical Responders will be required to undertake Clinical Response duties which will require the use of our fleet vehicle. As such a full UK driving licence will be required for this role. (Please note a Driving Assessment may be required as part of the assessment process).
Day to day, you will:
1. Act as an autonomous clinician providing clinical and social care assessment, diagnosis (where appropriate), and treatment (where indicated), discharge or referral (where appropriate) for patient groups covered within the roles stated
2. Evaluate clinical information from examination & history taking and initiate appropriate treatment or escalation with a Senior Clinical Navigator
3. Refer patients to alternative care settings, where appropriate and to discharge or treat, as appropriate and within your scope of practice
4. Supply and / or administer medication and treatments according to agreed protocols, within scope of competencies and following discussion with Senior Clinical Navigator
5. Demonstrate the ability to act autonomously in an emergency for a patient in a life-threatening presentation
6. Document your clinical findings, discussions with Senior Clinical Navigator (where appropriate) using the relevant clinical systems. This will include management plans and referrals to other services

About You
You’ll be a registered healthcare professional (nurse, paramedic or other Associated Health Professional) with a broad experience. In order to be considered for the role, you will be required to demonstrate:
7. A significant level of experience as a registered practitioner within a broad range of care (>2 years of clinical experience is highly desirable)
8. Evidence of wide knowledge base and competency in clinical practice
9. Completion of Physical Assessment and Clinical Reasoning module
10. An understanding of the emergency care pathway and experience of providing urgent care
11. Completion of training in death verification for expected deaths, or a willingness to undertake this training
12. Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
