Buyer/Category Specialist

We are looking for a commercially driven Buyer to join a fast-paced and growing organisation within the non-food consumables sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on ownership, negotiation and delivering value across a product portfolio.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing and developing a category within a non-food disposable product range. This includes sourcing, supplier management, pricing strategy, and supporting sales growth through strong commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the category day-to-day to drive performance and profitability
2. Develop and execute short, medium, and long-term category plans
3. Analyse market trends, customer demand, and product performance
4. Identify new product opportunities and optimise existing ranges
5. Source products end-to-end, ensuring best value and quality
6. Evaluate quotes, tenders, and negotiate pricing and supplier agreements
7. Build and manage supplier relationships across UK and international markets
8. Collaborate with Sales and internal teams to support customer needs and growth
9. Deliver against budgets, reduce costs, and manage pricing, rebates, and stock
10. Drive continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives, and operational efficiencies
About You
11. Strong commercial awareness with a keen eye for detail
12. Proven ability to negotiate and manage supplier relationships
13. Analytical mindset with confidence working with data and reports
14. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
15. Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
16. Proactive, self-motivated and results-driven
17. Experience in buying, procurement or category management
18. Strong numerical and analytical capability
19. Confident user of Excel and Microsoft Office
20. Experience within FMCG, foodservice or related sectors is advantageous
21. Exposure to international sourcing is desirable
