Job Title: Sonographer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Radiographer/Sonographer to join our multidisciplinary Diagnostic Imaging team. The postholder will provide a high-quality radiographic and antenatal ultrasound service, supervising and developing junior Radiographers and Radiography Aides while ensuring compliance with departmental standards, UK guidelines and best practice protocols.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake a full range of diagnostic imaging procedures including general radiography, obstetric and general ultrasound, CT, theatre, dental, A&E, mobile and GP-referral imaging.
* Provide an efficient antenatal ultrasound service and participate in the ultrasound reporting system, ensuring patient pathways are supported.
* Supervise, mentor and train Radiographers, Radiography Aides, and students on placement.
* Work autonomously during out-of-hours/on-call shifts, including urgent CT, mobile and theatre cases.
* Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with IR(ME)R 2000 and departmental policies.
* Contribute to quality assurance programmes, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
* Support the implementation of new protocols, technologies and best practice in ultrasound and radiography.
Requirements
* HCPC registration and adherence to the College of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct.
* Proven experience in diagnostic imaging across multiple modalities including ultrasound and CT.
* Strong supervisory, mentoring and organisational skills with the ability to work independently under pressure.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
Working Pattern
* 37.5 hours per week plus participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
