Find where you belong!
We're on the lookout for a passionate Management Accountant to join our team at the Travelodge Support Centre based in Thame! If you'd like to own and lead the central costs for our fast-paced, multi-site business, have a keen eye for detail and a knack for financial reporting, this could be the perfect fit for you.
What’s it all about?
The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate accounting and reporting of the company’s central costs, providing essential technical support to the wider finance team. The role involves overseeing month-end activities, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and providing insightful commentary on variances to help business leaders make informed decisions. You’ll manage the creation and posting of accruals, prepayments, and other journals, while also working closely with budget holders to review financial performance.
You’ll also take responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to external audit preparation. Beyond month-end activities, you’ll support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing guidance to cost centre managers and helping to shape the evolution of reporting tools and processes. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with other teams across the business to link operational activities with financial impacts, ensuring that the financial side aligns with the business’ commercial objectives. You’ll also be called on to take on various ad-hoc projects, providing support where the business needs it most. You’ll work with complex data sets, but your ability to simplify and communicate findings to a non-financial audience will be key. The role requires a flexible, proactive approach, as the business is ever-changing and you’ll need to adapt quickly to new challenges.

Who will this appeal to?
The right person for the role will have at least three years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-site business environment. You will be part-qualified in accounting (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) with a solid understanding of technical accounting principles. You will be detail-oriented, capable of managing complex financial data, and able to provide insights that are easy to understand for non-finance stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, and experience with financial systems and reporting tools is also required. Knowledge of tools like SUN or Anaplan would be an advantage. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with a variety of teams and budget holders, offering advice and support on financial matters while identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation in financial processes. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be key to your success in this role.
