The Role
The person appointed to this post will contribute to the achievement of the teaching, learning and assessment goals of the Masters in Medical Education programme. The delivery of teaching, learning and assessment will be the key activity for this post. This is a full‑time post located at Newcastle University but some travel, including international, may be required.
The Medical Education Programme is aimed at helping all health care professionals develop as educators. We are therefore keen to consider applications from a wide variety of backgrounds in health care and /or education.

Responsibilities
- To make a significant contribution to the School’s Medical Education Certificate, Diploma and Master modules, supplying academic content for the development of the programme’s online resources.
Quality Assurance
- Contribute to training and development of educators who support medical and health care programmes
- Contribute to the evaluation of the programme and individual modules
- Respond to issues highlighted in student and staff feedback
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
- Contribute to the co-ordination and delivery of the Medical Education programme
- Contribute to the teaching, learning and assessment of educational theory
- Design, and be responsible for, the academic content of online resources to support those working at a distance
- Deliver online academic support
- Deliver a high‑quality classroom experience to those attending classroom sessions
- Address individual learning needs
- Facilitate student group work and individual tutorials, including guidance for self‑study and assessment preparation
- Contribute to the design and development of assessments
- Participate in the marking and moderation of module assessments
- Supervise Masters’ dissertations
Student support and guidance
- Meet with students for pastoral support and guidance and refer to the Senior Tutor or DPD as appropriate
- Contribute to other areas of teaching in the Medical Education programme as appropriate and requested by the Degree Programme Director, particularly in the areas listed above
- Contribute to the development and future direction of the programme
- To undertake academic duties as required by the Head of School and the Degree Programme Director
- To undertake administrative duties relevant to the programme
- To contribute to the development of cross‑disciplinary, integrated teaching within the School
- To serve on School, Faculty and University committees where appropriate, in particular those relating to the Medical Education programme, e.g., Board of Studies, Module Moderation Boards and Boards of Examiners

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Apply educational knowledge to designing teaching, learning and assessment content and able to relate it to classroom and clinical settings
- Knowledge of online delivery approaches
- Good communicator in seminars and small groups and produce constructive, developmental feedback
- Use technology enhanced learning tools for classroom and online teaching
- Experience of speaking in public, including lectures or conferences

Qualifications
- Possesses or is near completion of a Masters degree in a relevant discipline
