Job Summary:
* We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Repairs to lead the delivery and ongoing improvement of a large-scale property repairs service across both housing and corporate assets.
* This is a temporary assignment for 24 weeks, offering a high-impact opportunity to shape the quality and efficiency of a public sector repair and maintenance function.
* The successful candidate will play a hands-on leadership role, expected to be on-site supporting operational teams and front-line staff 4 days per week.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
* Lead and manage the strategic and day-to-day delivery of a responsive repairs service across housing and corporate properties.
* Oversee a substantial budget (c. £10m), ensuring effective allocation of resources, cost control, and value for money.
* Manage and support operational teams, ensuring high performance, compliance with legislation, and customer satisfaction.
* Oversee the procurement, mobilisation, and performance management of key maintenance contracts and frameworks.
* Drive continuous service improvement, embedding robust monitoring and performance reporting.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, housing standards, and relevant statutory requirements.
Skills/Experience:
* Proven track record of managing large-scale property maintenance or repair operations, ideally within a housing or local authority environment.
* Strong leadership and team management experience, including managing multi-disciplinary teams and front-line operatives.
* Extensive experience overseeing high-value budgets and ensuring commercial performance.
* In-depth knowledge of building construction, property maintenance, repairs compliance, and housing legislation.
* Experience managing contractors and leading procurement processes for repair and maintenance services.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work on-site and provide visible leadership in a fast-paced operational setting.
