Main duties of the job
Continually develop/maintain high-qualitydecontamination service of Endoscopes.
Undertake manual/automated disinfection/decontamination of endoscopes as per BMSG policies/unit protocols.
Ensure traceability process adherence
Demonstrate sound organisational skills byplanning own workload. Pre-assess, prepare equipment as required as perspecific patient needs, ensuring endoscope and subsidiary equipment is preparedand ready for use prior to patient arrival
Partake in development of service through input into steering groups.
Undertake daily performance monitoring/recording of Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER).
Ensure records relating to equipment testing areaccurate, clear, concise, legible and in accordance with devicespecifications
Adhere to advise from BMSG regarding remedial actions in relation to final rinse water testing results
Perform leak testing immediatelyafter use ensuring integrity of endoscope prior to manual/automatedreprocessing
Ensure availability ofsuitable endoscope through efficient reprocessing mechanisms
Prior to session commencing, ensure endoscopes stored within Endoscopy storage cabinet are validated for useand undertake automated reprocessing as required
Partake in regular external training to maintainknowledge/ establish developments in practice. Implement new policies anddisseminate to all staff as required.
Sound knowledge of Endoscopes and relevant parts and channel configuration to ensure correct dismantling,decontamination and assembly.

Main Responsibilities
Professional/Clinical
1. Continually develop and maintain a high-qualitydecontamination service of Endoscopes.
2. Undertake manual and automated disinfection anddecontamination of all endoscopes as per BMSG policies and unit protocols.
3. Ensure traceability processes are adhered to at alltimes.

5. Partake in the development of the service through involvement and input into steering/workinggroups.

14. Undertake regular care of all Endoscopes, ensuringservice contracts are fulfilled. Liaise regularly with BMSG Management team toreport any deficiencies.
Administrative/Managerial
1. Represent the decontamination area when attending EndoscopyUser Group meetings and feedback relevant information as required.
2. Develop skills and knowledge which enable participationin complex activities.
3. Monitor and maintain stock levels of associatedendoscopic equipment.
4. Contribute to the design, development, and participationin new working practices and patterns following consultation and agreement withall concerned parties.

5. Required to wear restrictive garments for long periodsof the working day.

1. You will follow risk management/COSHH procedures at alltimes. BMSG policies and procedures and Decontaminationprocedures are retained within the unit.
2. You are responsible for Risk Management issues inrespect of yourself and your colleagues.
3. If you identify a potential hazard you should report itto your manager/supervisor at once. Ifin doubt you should speak to your manager for guidance.
4. You must always use safety equipment provided and reportany defects to your manager.
