An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacy Technician (s) to join our Procurement, Homecare, Patient Services and Clinical Support teams in a rotational post. We are looking for enthusiastic technician(s) with excellent organisational skills together with a desire to provide a high quality, safe and efficient service to our patients and to our pharmacy sites.

The successful candidate(s) will work within a multidisciplinary team which includes technicians, clinical pharmacists, nurses, doctors, clinical homecare lead and within the pharmacy procurement team.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities will be:

Facilitate the supply of medicines to patients receiving their medication via the Homecare
Service
To ensure suppliers work within the parameters of the National Key Performance Indicators
To purchase medicines for the trust and ensure suppliers receive orders accurately and on time.
To support account management and participate with the administrative duties in processing invoices and resolving invoice queries from suppliers
To ensure outstanding orders are expedited to reduce any stock outs and to highlight potential shortages to the procurement team
To support the purchasing of medicines to our outsourced Out-patients Pharmacies
Respond to any queries from within pharmacy dispensary sites
To ensure that procedures relating to good dispensing practice are followed and to encourage and maintain high standards and orderly methods of working.
To encourage and support compliance with the formulary and dispensary policies.
To maintain labelling standards.
To participate in the dispensing and checking of outpatient, inpatient, stock prescriptions and to support the delivery of the NPD scheme.
To participate in the HEE or local London Region checking accreditation scheme.

To be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the robotic dispensing system.

Develop and introduce systems to enhance the safe, efficient and timely provision of medicines management to the Directorate, in conjunction with their Clinical Pharmacists.
Provide an enhanced pharmaceutical ward stock management service.
To act as an accredited medicines management technician.
Support the delivery, development, and evaluation of systems to support medicines reconciliation.
Facilitate the dispensary process for Directorate discharges, when necessary, to support the achievement of Trust and Department of Health targets.
Liaise with pharmacy, nursing, medical and other ward staff in order to facilitate the medicines management process for the Directorate.

The UCLH Pharmacy Department has close working relationships with the local hospital pharmacy departments at the Royal Free and The Whittington Hospitals. This relationship has resulted in centralisation of some key backroom operational services such as manufacturing, repacking and education & training, whilst focussing local clinical services directly towards improving patient care.
