Our department is proud to offer specialist services in asthma, tuberculosis (TB), interstitial lung disease (ILD), and cancer diagnostics. We also run a variety of interventional procedures including bronchoscopy lists and dedicated pleural clinics. Key Responsibilities
* Work with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high-quality, well-led service for patients of Ashford & St Peter's, including diagnosis, investigations, treatment, and management, in accordance with Trust policies and practices.
* Deliver Direct Clinical Care to patients, assisting clinical decision-making and sharing workload.
* Have continuing responsibility for patient care in their charge and undertake administrative duties across 5 days.
* Participate in the GIM On call rota during rotation at St Peters.
* Ensure safe handover and ongoing responsibility for patient care.
* Engage with medical, nursing, management, and other staff to deliver department objectives, improve patient experience, and ensure high-quality clinical care.
* Support education, research, audit, and clinical governance activities involving a multidisciplinary workforce.
* Contribute to professional training of medical and non-medical staff and participate in teaching sessions for hospital, undergraduate, and postgraduate staff, including supervision of junior medical staff.
Job Plan
The Job Plan includes 7.9 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA), organized on an 18-week rota, plus an additional 1.1 PAs for GIM work. The rota allows for alternating busy and less busy days to balance workloads. The majority of DCC involves covering the Respiratory ward, providing in-reach services to the Clinical Assessment Unit, and managing general Respiratory and cancer clinics, as well as pleural and bronchoscopy procedures. A specific job plan will be tailored with the appointed consultant and reviewed annually or upon request.
