Overview
The post holder will offer specialist advice and support around children and young people (CYP) with eating disorders and other eating difficulties being cared for in the acute paediatric setting. They will work as part of the wider Positive Behaviour Support Team, who support CYP presenting to UHDB in crisis. There is a strong focus on multi-agency working. The post holder will work alongside other hospital professionals and lead liaison with community and specialist teams to assess risks and develop individualised plans of care. They will contribute to staff training programmes, sharing knowledge and developing skills in evidenced-based approaches to managing eating disorders and eating related difficulties. Alongside other team members, they will support with the development and implementation of clinical guidelines in relation to eating difficulties and support ongoing service evaluation and development.
Responsibilities
* To care coordinate and support the management of CYP with eating disorders and other eating difficulties in an acute paediatric setting.
* To develop personalised risk assessments and individualised plans of care.
* To be a key professional in the system wide approach to caring for CYP with eating disorders and other eating difficulties; providing liaison between professionals and across organisations. To bridge the gap between community and acute services for CYP with eating disorders and other eating difficulties.
* To adopt a person-centred approach and gain understanding around the most appropriate ways to support CYP with their eating difficulties and mental health. To act as the patient’s advocate, maintaining privacy and dignity.
* Provide specialist advice, support and training to junior staff and learners in all aspects of the delivery of evidence-based, high quality care for CYP with eating disorders and other eating difficulties.
* Provide specialist support, advice and education to patients/ significant others in the management of their care.
* To complete service evaluations and audits to contribute to continuous quality improvements and service developments.
* To work with key stakeholders to develop and refine pathways of care for CYP with eating relating difficulties.
