The Conservation Volunteers TCV are seeking to recruit Sessional Project Officers to bring delivery capacity to our busy practical horticulture operations across N. Ireland. The core focus of these roles will be to lead volunteer activities to connect people to green space and nature. We are seeking people with a range of horticulture, community and / or well-being experience, in either rural or urban settings.
Our opportunities range from working alongside our staff and volunteer teams on established TCV projects, to leading interactive workshops in community settings including gardens and allotments. You will need to have experience of leading workshops, a passion for horticulture, and engaging people in activities.
Our horticulture opportunities are N. Ireland wide, from rural community gardens in Armagh and Gortin to urban growing projects in Belfast and Derry. You will report to a locality focused Senior Project Officer, who will manage and mentor you in this role. All necessary tools, materials and PPE will be provided. Access and use of your own vehicle is an advantage.
Main Activities of these role are;
* Provide delivery capacity to TCV’s busy schedule of volunteer engagement.
* Leading a team of volunteers in practical tasks and / or workshops.
* Bringing your topic focused experience to shape and delivery workshops.
* Delivery quality volunteer experiences in line with TCV Best Practice.
Experience
* Strong knowledge of horticulture, including growing food from seed to harvesting.
* Ability to lead and engage with community groups and volunteers from a range of backgrounds and abilities.
* Experience of designing and delivering horticulture workshops to up to 15 people.
* Confident communication skills and the ability to work within a busy team of staff and volunteers, as well as working with indirect supervision.
* Ability to work to TCV’s Policies & Procedures including H&S, GDPR and Safeguarding.
