This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to work within the Medical Retina Service within Ophthalmology.
The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of Medical Retina such as running theatre lists to treat AMD, nurse led clinics and there is plenty of opportunity for development.
To support the Medical Retina Service: Focusing in macular degeneration specifically with a view to expanding the role within the Medical Retina Speciality as the post develops.
To undertake and support in the assessment, planning, examination, diagnosis and treatment of specific programmes of patient care and setting of standards of care aimed at providing a high quality of service.
To assist the consultant in assessing patients and undertaking treatment for patients with age related macular degeneration and other conditions as the role develops.
Undertake fundoscopy and manage own caseload in clinic.
Will report on photographic images for patients with age related macular degeneration as part of the AMD service virtual clinic.
Give intravitreal injections as part of the patients' management and offer advice as appropriate.
Exercise judgement in assessing wide ranging patient problems and promote options for optimum patient care.
Practising as a competent, fully registered, non-medical prescriber.
To maintain effective communication with all patients, carers and members of the healthcare team.
To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide ranging physical and emotional needs.
Work unsupervised, within Trust Guidelines, Policies and Procedures and professional codes of conduct, seeking advice on non-routine matters from line managers or Duty Matron.
To ensure accurate, contemporaneous and timely care records, both written and electronic.
