Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA) Location: Alan's home and local community BS15 AREA. Hours: 6 hours per week Pay: £12.40 per hour (rate will be reviewed in April in line with the National Living Wage) ________________________________________ About the Role A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support Alan, who lives independently in his own home. Alan is looking for a reliable, friendly, and compassionate individual to support him to maintain his independence, access the community, and manage day-to-day tasks. His current PA is leaving, and he is looking for someone to take over these hours. ________________________________________ Key Duties Provide prompting and encouragement with personal care (Alan is physically independent) Support with medication reminders (Alan self-administers but may forget) Assist with light household tasks and encourage maintaining a safe, tidy home Support with shopping and errands Assist Alan to access the community, including: Weekly bowls sessions with his father Weekly karaoke sessions (when possible) Support attendance at medical appointments Assist with basic correspondence where required ________________________________________ About Alan Alan lives at home and values his independence. It is very important to him to remain living in his own home and continue his usual routines and social activities. Alan has Parkinson's disease and takes regular medication, including via a PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) tube He is independent with medication but benefits from prompts and reminders Alan is mobile and walks independently, though he feels his mobility has declined recently His home includes adaptations such as a level access shower, shower chair, and grab rails Alan has a reduced appetite but is independent with eating He is supported informally by his son, who works full-time ________________________________________ Person Specification Essential: Kind, patient, and respectful approach Ability to encourage independence Good communication skills Reliable and punctual Understanding of confidentiality and dignity Desirable: Experience supporting someone with Parkinson's disease Awareness of PEG feeding (training can be provided) Driver preferred for community access and appointments ________________________________________ Additional Information This role is subject to satisfactory references Training can be provided where required ________________________________________ Summary This is a rewarding opportunity to support someone to remain independent in their own home and stay connected to their community.
