Performance EngineerLocation: Southampton hybrid, 3 days per week on-siteSalary: £45-65K plus excellent benefits packageAbout the OpportunityOur client is a fast-growing maritime technology business developing wind-assisted propulsion systems that help reduce fuel consumption and emissions across global shipping.They are now looking to appoint a Performance Engineer to join their growing team. This is a rare opportunity for someone with strong experience working with real-world engineering data, telemetry, or industrial systems to help shape how performance is measured, understood, and improved across a growing fleet of commercial vessels.Working across engineering, software, and commercial teams, you will own the end-to-end data and insight pipeline, designing how operational data flows from onboard systems through to internal engineering tools and customer-facing reporting. You will play a central role in ensuring performance is captured accurately and translated into meaningful insight that supports engineering improvement, reliability decisions, and validated fuel-saving claims.Key RequirementsYou will be an analytically strong Performance Engineer, Data Engineer, Marine Performance Analyst, Industrial Data Engineer, Fleet Performance Engineer, or similar, with experience working with real-world engineering or industrial data and turning complex information into clear, actionable insight.
You should bring:Degree qualification in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical disciplineSolid experience working with real-world engineering or industrial dataExperience building and maintaining data pipelines and processing workflowsStrong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into clear insightExperience developing dashboards or reporting tools for both technical and non-technical usersExposure to data from physical systems such as sensors, telemetry, or industrial equipmentStrong communication skills, with the ability to present data in a commercially meaningful wayA proactive and structured approach, with the confidence to work in a fast-moving environmentDesirable experience includes:Experience within marine, energy, or other industrial environmentsExposure to reliability analysis or performance modellingFamiliarity with scalable or cloud-based data systemsExperience supporting customer-facing reporting or performance validationUnderstanding of how data can support product development and commercial decision-makingRole & ResponsibilitiesAs Performance Engineer, you will own the flow of operational data from onboard systems through to engineering insight and customer reporting, helping to close the loop between real-world operation and product development.
