Job Description

As an Underwriting Operations Manager, you will lead and mentor a team, overseeing guidelines and procedures, monitoring performance, ensuring compliance and best practices to achieve strategic goals.The role may also include underwriting a limited number of cases to provide cover during periods of colleague absences / high workload. The aim is to develop a high performing team that makes sound underwriting decisions and delivers excellent customer service.

As an Underwriting Operations Manager, we are looking for someone to:

* Lead, motivate and performance manage the Underwriting Team through1-2-1s, skills gap analyses, appraisals, training and coaching, to improve performance and develop colleagues
* Implement an effective case management process that ensures adherence to policies and procedures and provides a best in class service
* Ensure all active cases are proactively managed throughout the customer journey and ensure you can provide live reports to management on pipeline and fundings in line with the companies monthly target
* Report on the performance of the pre-funding team by tracking key performance metrics to celebrate success and / or identify areas for improvement
* Ensure that the team adhere to company policies and procedures and proactively manage their pipeline of cases efficiently to SLA’s. Applying sound judgement and thorough analysis to make informed underwriting decisions in line with company policies, procedures and lending criteria that protect financial stability
* Identify opportunities for improvements in processes, flagging bottlenecks, delays, and / or inefficient processes to enhance processing activities
* Maintain a strong understanding of mortgage lending to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant


Qualifications

* Strong people leadership skills
* Significant experience of managing, supporting, mentoring and training / recruiting a team to provide exceptional customer service
* Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
* Strategic planning ability to determine resource requirements and implement effective ways of working / team structures
* Strong relationship management skills
