Full-time Description Warehouse and Materials Manager G&H Torquay, Devon Competitive Salary on offer DOE G&H Torquay is a leader in fibre optic, photonic, and modular system technologies. We are looking for a Warehouse and Materials Manager to oversee all goods-in, stores, and despatch operations. This role is key to maintaining stock accuracy and traceability, ensuring that production lines and customers receive the right materials at the right time, delivered in the most cost-effective manner. Your responsibilities will include: · Ensure Health & Safety compliance, drive improvements, and minimise risks · Lead, manage, and develop the warehouse and materials team (Stores Operatives, Material Controllers, Export Officer) · Manage staffing levels, recruitment, appraisals, performance, and overtime approvals · Deliver departmental KPIs, including cycle counts, kitting, booking in, put-away, and picking targets · Analyse and improve warehouse efficiency and stock accuracy · Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions · Optimise warehouse layout, storage, and stock control systems · Oversee forklift truck and racking maintenance and inspections · Identify and implement system and process improvements, including barcoding and 6S initiatives · Drive supply chain improvement projects (e.g., VMI, consignment stock, Kanban, min/max systems) · Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and customs regulations for despatch operations · Support budget management and identify cost-saving opportunities · Maintain and document departmental processes, training, and skills matrices · Collaborate across departments to support revenue, inventory, and on-time delivery goals · Attend relevant meetings and report regularly to management · Carry out additional tasks as needed to meet departmental objectives What We’re Looking For: Personal Attributes • A safety conscious approach to work • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement • Good communication skills at all levels • Able to be accountable and deliver results • Attention to detail and customer focused • Proven ability to manage others Skills & Experience • Forklift truck license desirable • 3 years’ experience of managing stores in a manufacturing environment • Knowledge and experience of working with MRP (Syspro or equivalent) • Strong communication and organisational skills • Understanding of quality management systems in aerospace and medical industries • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications • Project management skills • Excellent problem-solving skills • Knowledge of export processes and documentation Our Benefits Package 25 days holiday bank holidays (Rising with long service) 6% employer pension contribution Company bonus scheme Health Cash Plan Ongoing training & career development
