Finance Project Lead, FTC to start ASAP / by end of May for 18-24mths, circa £110k + completion bonus + benefits, based on site 3 days min / wk.
Role Purpose
The Finance Lead is responsible for planning, executing and managing the financial aspects of the project; including budget management, forecasting ownership and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Project leadership: Lead projects from initiation to completion, defining goals, deliverables, and timelines. Work with the project team to produce an end‑to‑end detailed project budget.
* Planning and execution: Develop detailed project plans, manage project tasks, and lead or coordinate project teams to meet objectives.
* Financial management: Develop and manage project budgets, track spending, and ensure financial integrity and compliance.
o Oversee all project related purchases and commitments.
o Track cashflows vs expectation, explaining any variances.
o Forecast project cashflows going forward, identifying risks and opportunities.
o Ensure expenditure receives the correct accounting treatment and designation.
* Stakeholder management: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, provide status updates, and manage expectations.
* Risk management: Identify, analyse, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
* Reporting: Track project progress against agreed‑upon timelines and prepare project‑related documentation and reports complete with narrative.
Qualifications & Experience
* Commercial finance background is a must.
* Experience with budgeting, forecasting, modelling, and planning.
* Experience in the financial management of large scale projects.
* Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile) and how they impact financial tracking.
* Supporting contract management through monitoring financial terms, managing invoicing against milestones, holding suppliers to account.
* Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and cost analysis.
* Excellent knowledge of accounting standards to ensure accurate reporting and treatment.
* Proficient in the use of accounting systems.
* Strong analytical, data‑driven decision‑making abilities.
* High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
* Excellent problem‑solving and process optimisation skills.
* Strong communication and documentation abilities, with the skill to articulate complex financial concepts to non‑finance stakeholders.
* Adaptable and proactive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
* High level of numeracy.
