Project Manager Projects Department | RML Group About the Role RML Group is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join our Projects & Planning Team. Reporting directly to the Head of Projects & Planning, you will play a critical role in leading complex engineering projects from concept through to final delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and technically minded professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-performance engineering environments. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while coordinating cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, supply chain, and commercial functions. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering projects across the full product lifecycle, including concept development, design, manufacture, validation, and delivery. Define and manage project scope, objectives, deliverables, assumptions, and success criteria. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource plans. Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, production, supply chain, quality, and commercial departments. Manage timelines, risks, issues, dependencies, and change control processes. Ensure stakeholder alignment on priorities, project status, responsibilities, and deliverables. Monitor project performance against timing, cost, scope, and quality targets, implementing recovery plans where required. Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting. Work closely with Engineering and Purchasing teams to achieve BOM cost targets. Facilitate project reviews and provide clear reporting to senior leadership and customers. Assess the impact of programme, engineering, or customer changes on scope, timing, costs, and resources. Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. Drive collaboration and communication across all departments to ensure successful project execution. Support continuous improvement initiatives, governance processes, and lessons-learned activities. Ensure projects are delivered in line with company standards, customer expectations, and commercial objectives. About You We are looking for a motivated and delivery-focused Project Manager with experience in complex technical or engineering-led environments. Essential Skills & Experience Proven project management experience within engineering, manufacturing, automotive, motorsport, or similarly complex technical industries. Strong understanding of full project lifecycle management. Experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments. Ability to manage scope, timing, priorities, and deliverables effectively. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of programme risk and resource management. Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with confidence working across all levels of the business. Comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on project delivery. Proactive mindset with the ability to drive pace and maintain challenging timelines. Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering successful outcomes. Desirable Experience Experience within high-performance automotive, motorsport, defence, or low-volume manufacturing environments. Experience working with motorsport teams, OEMs, or Tier 1 suppliers. Familiarity with project management tools, ERP systems, and governance frameworks. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years’ project management experience within the automotive, motorsport, or engineering sectors. Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and ERP systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in deadline-driven environments. Working Environment Office and manufacturing plant-based role. Occasional travel to customer sites, supplier locations, and testing facilities. Flexibility to support prototype builds and launch phases outside standard working hours when required.
