Role Information: Job title - A&I (Assembly and Installation) Fitter Salary - £32,000 Location - Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales Why join Marshall Land Systems in this role: The Assembly & Installation Fitter is responsible for the fitting and installation of machined parts, sheet metal components and various assembled parts in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality standards. Working as part of a multidisciplinary production team, the role ensures all assembly and installation activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, supporting the delivery of projects on time and to customer expectations. Your responsibilities in this role include: Assemble and install components including machined parts, brackets, and other assembled parts Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications and associated design data Ensure all tasks are completed within allocated timeframes and to required quality standards Follow company production processes, procedures and configuration control requirements Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures Identify and report any issues, defects or non-conformances during assembly Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean and 5S activities Maintain a clean, organised and compliant work area Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used correctly and maintained in good condition Accurately complete required documentation, including timesheets and job records Support production meetings or team briefings where required Apply if you have most of the following: Experience in a hands-on role requiring manual dexterity, precision and accuracy Background in any practical trade (e.g. mechanical fitting, vehicle body building, fabrication, construction or similar) Proven ability to work with tools and assemble components to fine tolerances Experience working in a workshop, site or manufacturing environment is beneficial Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Technical skills/education: Apprenticeship (e.g. City & Guilds) or equivalent in a relevant trade (desirable) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information Understanding of basic assembly and installation techniques Familiarity with workshop or site-based health and safety practices Basic knowledge of production processes and methods Good communication skills (written and verbal) Additional local needs: Onsite working Candidates will need to be able to obtain BPSS clearance The benefits in the role include: Development of practical and technical assembly skills Opportunity to gain experience across a range of engineering projects Clear progression pathways into senior fitter, specialist or supervisory roles Ongoing training and skill development in tools, systems and processes Exposure to engineering drawings, specifications and real-world applications Involvement in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives Marshall Land Systems is a Canadian-owned global company with an unrivalled pedigree of British engineering excellence.
