Join a well-established accountancy practice as Bookkeeping Manager, taking full ownership of the bookkeeping function across a growing, multi-client portfolio.
This is a senior, autonomous role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely bookkeeping across the firm. You'll shape processes, drive efficiency, and be the go-to person for VAT, CIS, and bookkeeping matters
The role
Oversee bookkeeping across a portfolio of clients (primarily Xero, with some QuickBooks)
Act as the main point of contact for bookkeeping, VAT, and CIS queries
Prepare and review VAT and CIS returns
Manage, support, and develop a small bookkeeping team
Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
Assist with month-end and year-end processes
Identify and implement process improvements This is an office-based role, with flexibility available once established.
What they're looking for
Minimum 2 years' bookkeeping experience (practice or multi-client environment preferred)
Strong working knowledge of Xero (QuickBooks beneficial)
Experience with VAT and CIS
High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
Confident communicator with clients and internal stakeholders
Desirable (not essential)
AAT Level 3+ or qualified by experience
Previous experience mentoring or supervising others
