Responsibilities

* Strategy & Leadership – ensure the team provides excellent client service and achieves performance targets through clear KPI management
* Progression of all cases in the team up to the point of settlement
* Provide inspirational leadership to PI including recruitment, motivation, training and support of team members as required
* Implement and monitor departmental plans to deliver Fletchers priorities, including Project Arrow across PI
* Support the budgeting process for PI
* People management – lead the PI department, directly manage the Team Leaders, coach, develop and support managers to achieve excellent people‑leadership practice
* Work with the People team to optimise recruitment and retention of lawyers in the department
* Role model Fletchers Values
* Technical – provide advice and guidance on PI issues; ensure departmental policies and procedures are followed to ensure cases are progressed appropriately and client satisfaction is delivered
* Work with internal and external partners to ensure the department delivers quality legal services with unrivalled client care in a compliant way
* Case handling – run a reduced load (~25% of full capacity), liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third‑party solicitors and insurers as necessary; manage pre‑ and post‑issue procedures efficiently
* Pursue cases to conclusion
* Ensure all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed in a timely fashion
* Accurate time recording
* Maintain client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements
* Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate

Ideal Candidate

* Experience of successfully leading a Personal Injury Team
* Experience of running a wide variety of Personal Injury claims including Employers and Public Liability and RTA
* Ability to deliver excellent client service
* Good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity
* Experience of coaching and supporting other lawyers and managers
* Forming and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to role model good practice leadership
* Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members
* Strong analytical skills
