About us

One Small Thing was founded in 2014 by prison philanthropist Lady Edwina Grosvenor, in response to the unacceptable levels of suicide, self-harm, and violence within women’s prisons in England. Our aim is to achieve systemic change across the justice system, one small thing at a time.

Our name reflects the value of small acts – empathy, compassion, respect – and their power to make a significant difference to individuals and society.

About Hope Street

Hope Street is a new, purpose-built residential community-based service in Hampshire, designed in collaboration with women for justice-involved women and their children. It offers a safe, trauma-informed environment where women and children can access education, support, and activities to build confidence, skills, and a fulfilling life.

The role

Are you passionate about creating opportunities for women affected by the justice system? Do you enjoy building genuine connections and helping others feel valued? If so, this role might be for you.

As Referral and Engagement Coordinator, you will support women starting their journey at Hope Street, ensuring they are welcomed with compassion and clarity. You will strengthen external relationships, raise awareness across sectors, and help grow referrals from diverse partners.

This role is crucial in reaching more women who can benefit from our support, ensuring referral pathways are inclusive and trauma-informed.

We seek a calm, resilient individual capable of working in a fast-paced environment while providing consistent, compassionate support.

This position is restricted to women due to the nature of the role, under the Occupational Requirement specified in the Equality Act 2010.

Applicants must have a driving license, access to a vehicle, and business car insurance.

* Unlimited counselling via our Employment Assistance Programme “OpenUp”, extendable to family
