Therapy Assistant - In-Patient Unit

We are keen to enable our patients to achieve optimum function and independence and quality of life. You will play a key part in this along with your nursing and therapy colleagues. To assist you with this you will receive support and development through in service training, regular appraisals, a personal development plan and clinical supervision.

You must be self-motivated, able to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills and have good communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based on Alder Ward in Norwich. You will work as a member of the therapy team on the ward where you will support the registered Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists and Band 4 Assistant Practitioner. Your main duties will involve reviewing mobility, transfers, personal activities of daily living and exercise programmes as appropriate. You will be responsible for feeding back details of each patient’s progress to other members of the therapy team.

Job responsibilities

* Complete occupational therapy and Physiotherapy interventions under supervision of registered staff
* Engage with mobile working
* Engage with SystmOne
* Engage with Discharge to assess processes
* To be aware of the demand and capacity model which will reflect workload needs at any given time
* Work in a flexible manner


Qualifications

* NVQ 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience
* NVQ 3 in care
* Therapy experience

* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working within a Healthcare/Social Care setting
* Evidence of ongoing learning
* Experience of working in people’s homes
* Experience of working with people at the end of life


Skills, Knowledge and Ability

* Knowledge of additional specialist areas through in-house training & short courses
* Highly motivated
* Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team roles
* Experience of working in a community setting

* Able to communicate effectively using the English language in both verbal and written forms

* Be able to kneel, bend & stoop, and work in cramped environments.
* Manoeuvre limbs of around 5-6kg
* Manoeuvre patients using handling aids
* Be reliable
* Must have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
* Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English Language
