NMGH New Hospital Technical Design & Construction Lead

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is transforming North Manchester healthcare through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme, delivering a new hospital and health campus at the existing NMGH site. This role offers an opportunity to lead technical design and construction for the new hospital within the New Hospital Programme (NHP) Hospital 2.0 Model standard.
Main Duties
* Responsible for the development of all technical design briefing documentation aligned to stakeholder requirements, MFT strategies and the NHP H2.0 Model.
* Responsible for ensuring the development, implementation, management and confirming compliance with BIM Standards aligned to MFT and NHP Hospital 2.0 standards and policies.
* Responsible for the development of key technical strategies including Mechanical, Electrical, Sustainability/Net Zero.
* Responsible for delivering the design to meet the requirements of the New Hospital Project TOM.
* Responsible for defining, planning and co-ordinating the achievement of standards such as BREEAM and the WELL Building Standard.
* Responsible for leading the development and delivery of the design of the new healthcare facilities to meet all NHP Hospital 2.0 Model Standards, HTMs, HBNs and other mandatory, national and best-practice healthcare and construction standards ensuring that any derogations are defined and formally approved.
* Define technical design and construction works quality standards ensuring these are fully defined in contract documents.
* Develop and implement a robust quality assurance process to monitor design and construction quality, safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* To review and comment on NHP Hospital 2.0 Model standards and their implications for the Trust.
Person Specification
Essential
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
* Professional design, construction or engineering certification e.g. MCIOB
* Strong knowledge of construction methodologies including MMC
* Good understanding of M&E systems in healthcare
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical design processes and technical drawings
* Significant experience of engaging and managing a wide range of stakeholders in complex change management programmes
* Experience of delivering Estates, Facilities and Capital construction and equipment projects in a healthcare setting
* Expertise in construction management
* Chartered professional and membership of appropriate construction, design, or engineering related professional institution
* Experience of working on a major hospital redevelopment programme/ NHS service transformation programme in a similar role
* Knowledge and an understanding of Clinical Models of Care and Non-Clinical Delivery Models
