Lecturer Environmental Science
We are seeking a Lecturer Environmental Science, to be based at any of our NWH college campuses.
A college + university like no other – with 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye, and Outer Hebrides. We cover a geographic area larger than Wales, comprising 40% of Scotland’s coastline. Our campuses and centres are located within historic towns and villages, set amongst the shorelines, mountains, and moors, with local staff working across our region to support our students and communities.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of learning, teaching and assessment within subject areas of expertise and related fields of study.
* Embrace nationally agreed professional standards for lecturers to ensure an excellent student experience with sustained learner engagement, high learner satisfaction and successful student outcomes.
* Report to the Curriculum Manager and support curriculum development, provide specialist advice and proactively contribute to subject area review and evaluation.
* Work collaboratively as a cohesive team within subject areas and across both faculties within UHI North, West and Hebrides, and across the UHI partnership, ensuring a holistic approach to support every student to succeed together with professional service staff.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
* Hold an SCQF Level 7 to Level 12 qualification, normally above the level being taught and in a relevant subject area, plus a teaching qualification, preferably TQFE, PGDE or equivalent, or a Masters in Education.
* Proven track record of effective planning to deliver engaging learning, teaching, assessment and supervision.
* Excellent communication skills, self‑motivated, enthusiastic, able to problem‑solve and work independently.
* Experience using digital technologies for learning and teaching.
* An advantage if you have a level of Gaelic ability.
Salary
£41,833 – £50,359 per annum, pro rata.
Location
Any NWH campus.
Working Hours
6 hours 15 minutes per week (evenings).
Contract
Fixed term for 1 academic year.
Closing Date
Monday 16th March 2026, 12 noon.
