Overview
Assistant Clinical Psychologist (Dementia) – fixed term 12 months, full-time. Based in Shrewsbury, within the Dementia Assessment and Support service (DASS) at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT). This role provides an opportunity to develop clinical skills in a specialist service and is suitable for a graduate with strong research skills who wishes to move toward a clinical role.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychologically informed reviews of clients and carers known to the service.
* Collate and analyse significant volumes of complex audit data.
* Holistic assessment of client and carer needs, with guidance from the team and appropriate signposting to external agencies.
* Undertake a project to collate over a decade of neuropsychological test data relevant to assessment and diagnosis, summarise findings, and produce reports/papers.
* Potentially carry out initial history taking and information gathering for those awaiting further assessment within the pathway.
* Predominantly telephone or video-based client contact; some face-to-face work across a large rural region; audit work requires time at the clinical base in Shrewsbury.
* Receive supervision and undertake continuing professional development; participate in peer support groups with other assistant psychologists.
Requirements
* Minimum 2:1 degree in psychology.
* Strong commitment to working with older people and/or individuals affected by dementia.
* The post may require travel to clients' homes and clinical bases across the county.
