As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be supporting the team within Water and Environment, delivering complex infrastructure schemes.
What you will contribute to the team;
1. Support Water Companies in delivering large capital programmes, providing an essential service, and improving the environment.
2. Provide commercial support to a large project or programme of works
3. Ensuring robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and makes due allowance for all risks and opportunities
4. Managing commercial inputs to the procurement process including ensuring that strategies are developed and agreed.
5. Contracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, programme submissions etc
6. Ensuring robust cost management is undertaken at all times.
7. Proactive management of project and programme risk including ensuring that mitigation plans are in place and implemented.
8. Development of strong client relationships across its organisation
9. Monitor that technical solutions meet with technical standards, legal obligations, and client requirements.
10. Use a systematic approach to critically examine the situation from different perspective.
11. Gather relevant information from different sources in reaching a decision.
12. Generate and weigh the different options in arriving at decisions.
13. Weigh the risks and consequences of all options.
14. Make well-reasoned, sound and timely decisions based on the needs of the situation, the clients and the team member
15. Involve and consult those affected by the decision.
16. Maintain and build on existing client relationships to anticipate needs.
Required for the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor;
17. Chartered Surveyor, ideally MRICS, with a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
18. Experience working with NEC Contracts and other target cost, or cost reimbursable contracts
19. Experienced in delivering commercial and contractual elements of heavy infrastructure projects.
20. Experienced in Contract Management
21. Demonstrated background working within Consultancy or Main Contracting environment
22. Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure.
23. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
24. Excellent presentation and communication skills
25. Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work
26. Technically and commercially aware able to deliver on all post contract service delivery and to solve problems
27. Proactive and self motivated
28. Strong commercial knowledge
29. Effective time management - efficient and adding value to projects
30. Customer focus - ability to engage in sound relationships with the customer project team
Preferred, but not essential.
31. A knowledge and expertise in the water/wastewater industry sector

The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.
The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.
Our environment and water portfolio is primarily a UK based business delivering project, programme and commercial management services to regulated water/wastewater clients and the Environment Agency. Our work stretches across the entire project lifecycle, from pre-contract cost estimating and benchmarking to post contract QS services and commercial assurance. For project and programme management we deliver capital projects on behalf of our clients, both internal and external that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £0.5billion. Additionally we are the home of the cost intelligence service, a specialist team of data analysts and economists who provide expert advice across all sectors on inflation and indexation.
