Senior Product Designer Location: Poole, Dorset Hours: 39 hours (Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 5.00pm Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm) Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (D.O.E) About our client: Our client is a well-established leader in the domestic and commercial lighting industry. About the role - Senior Product Designer: We are currently looking for a charismatic, dynamic, and experienced Senior Designer to join our client's team. This is an ideal opportunity for a creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for product design. You will be responsible for designing and developing both interior and exterior lighting products from initial concept through to final prototypes for leading national accounts and in-house brands. You will need to be an energetic and self-motivated individual with a resourceful 'can-do' attitude and a 'hands-on' approach. Key Responsibilities include: * Take an active role in the conceptualisation and design development of new lighting products. * Plan and execute design projects based on given briefs, ensuring designs meet all requirements for form, aesthetics, technical quality, and costing. * Work closely with business account managers to support the development and presentation of new products to customers. * Bring fresh and innovative ideas at each phase of the design development process. * Liaise directly with manufacturing partners to reduce development lead times and increase speed to market. * Create engaging and professional product presentations for customers. * Determine materials, construction, colour, and surface finishes for new products. Experience and skills required for the role: * A BA or MA in Industrial Design or Product Design is essential. * Ideally, 5 years of experience in a 3D design-based industry. * Experience in decorative residential lighting is a distinct advantage. * Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. * Excellent hand-drawing and 2D visualisation skills. * Experience with 3D design software such as Fusion 360, Solidworks, Creo, or Rhino. * The ability to visualise designs as 3D models and mock-ups using an in-house workshop. * The ability to interpret technical drawings and translate them into a usable format for manufacturing. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Experience with rendering packages like Key Shot is an advantage but not essential. * The ability to travel independently as and when required.
