The business has built a reputation for excellence and innovation by delivering major marine projects for local and global clients and due to significant growth, the opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at our HQ in Newry, Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will form an important part of the commercial team by leading, managing and developing the QS team under your remit to ensure that the Company financial and commercial objectives are delivered at all stages of a project(s). Other key duties include: Be the Commercial Lead on a number of projects ranging from £1m-£15m Coach, mentor and develop the Intermediate/Junior QS staff within your team Provide accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team Ensure that project cost, quality and time targets are achieved Ensure prompt and appropriate submission of payment applications required by the contract terms Ensure the timely payment of subcontractors within the agreed payment terms. Maintain financial control of your projects and ensure the timely completion of accurate monthly cost value reconciliation reports Preparation and updating of project budgets including forecasts to completion Timely and appropriate identification of commercial issues Identify change and ensure that all contractual notification and process requirements are complied with so that the Company secures its full entitlement Produce accurate project cash flows Build a close relationship with the MJM operational project lead Work as a key lead member of the operational delivery team, working proactively and constructively with both internal and external stakeholders Ensure the accuracy of the commercial data and record keeping at site level Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, provide support and training on both the contract and the projects commercial requirements to the site team Management of subcontract accounts including enquiries, negotiation, procurement, payments, variations and final The Ideal Person will have: A BSc in Quantity Surveying, or other equivalent commercially related discipline A minimum of 8yrs post-graduation quantity surveying experience Practical working experience of ; The core change control process under JCT/ NEC/ FIDIC contracts and other bespoke forms of contract Supply chain engagement including tender enquiry, preparation, analysis, negotiation and selection assessment Standard methods of measurement Detailed understanding of; Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), preparation, detailed forecasting principles and monthly reporting.
