About the Role as a Learning Support Assistant
Activate Learning is recruiting a caring and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist team based at our brand new Vocational and Lifeskills Hub for Post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities in Wokingham.
You will be supporting young people aged 16-25 with complex needs to re-engage in education through personalised, therapeutic, and vocational pathways.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Support learners across Engagement, Employment (vocational/supported internships), and Academic pathways
2. Work with teachers to raise attainment and promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion
3. Provide support in class, small groups, and 1:1
4. Assist with personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP targets
5. Adapt materials to support literacy, numeracy, and communication needs
6. Use trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
7. Support learners in community and work-based settings
8. Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
This is a part time (4 days per week) fixed term contract until August 2027. term time only.
What do you need to be a successful Learning Support Assistant at Activate Learning?
9. GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
10. Experience with young people (16+) with SEMH, autism, or complex needs
11. Strong communication, organisation, and IT skills
12. Calm, flexible, and proactive, with a caring approach
13. Able to manage challenging behaviour and support independence
14. Willing to learn and undertake professional development
