A leading engineering organisation within the vehicle safety and automotive technology sector is looking for a Product Development & Applications Technician to join their expanding technical team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on technician or engineer from an automotive background (ideally with HGV experience), who enjoys working on real-world product applications, installations, and field testing.
The successful candidate will support the development and testing of cutting-edge electronic safety products, with a particular focus on how these systems are installed and integrated into vehicles across a wide range of commercial applications.

You’ll play a key part in improving product integration and installation processes, helping reduce time and cost for end users while enhancing performance and reliability.
Although the role is primarily office/workshop-based, it involves regular UK site visits, including trials on customer vehicles and testing in real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct technical product testing, evaluation, verification, and validation.
* Provide expert input on vehicle integration and practical installation challenges.
* Lead or support installation and configuration of systems on vehicles during development trials.
* Recommend product or documentation improvements to enhance real-world usability.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver robust application solutions.
Key Tasks
* Benchmarking, teardown, and analysis of vehicle safety systems.
* Troubleshooting and diagnosis of system issues in both lab and vehicle environments.
* Electrical and mechanical prototyping and modifications.
* Participate in engineering reviews and project meetings.
* Deliver technical support and training both remotely and in-person.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience working hands-on with vehicle electrical systems, ideally HGV or commercial vehicles.
* Confident in installation and fault-finding of automotive electronics.
* Basic understanding of analogue/digital circuits and communication protocols.
* Familiarity with diagnostic tools and standard workshop equipment.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365 and common desktop applications.
* Self-motivated, detail-focused and practical, with strong problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel across the UK and work flexibly when needed.
* Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
* Full UK driving licence required.
