About the role
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join us as we implement the new model of working for business support colleagues supporting our Children’s Services Directorate. These changes have come through the Our Future Council programme, which is a whole council transformation plan that aims to change the way we work, to make sure our services are financially sustainable for the future and achieve the best outcomes for residents, families, communities and businesses across the county.
Responsibilities
You will be part of a team of business support colleagues. Your role will provide good quality business support to operational staff within Children’s Services, helping them deliver services to local families. The service is also working toward the digital transformation of our services where appropriate and beneficial, so embracing change and adopting new ways of working is essential. You will also speak to and communicate with external partners, wider services within the council, operational staff and residents, requiring effective communication skills – both spoken and written, including an excellent telephone manner. The posts are based in Locality Offices and involve a range of administrative tasks supporting service delivery, and the work varies.
Travel and Working Arrangements
This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle or suitable transport available for use as needed. The position is UK-based with a required Right to Work check. The role requires a blend of home and office-based work, with an expectation for attendance in the office on at least one day a week or more frequently as business needs or training/workshops arise. Flexibility is required.
Qualifications
* Pro‑active and motivated; able to prioritise work, meet deadlines using initiative while working within set guidelines.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements for sensitive information.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; training will be provided for in‑house systems.
