Job Introduction

We now have an exciting opportunity at the Winchester branch for a highly motivated Private Banking Manager. The Private Banking Manager will be responsible for the management and development of a private banking customer portfolio, driving profitable business growth through proactive promotion of the Bank’s products and services.

Business development – the Private Banking Manager will bring new customers to the bank via customer referrals, active engagement with mortgage brokers and professional advisors, and close collaboration with Corporate Banking Managers.

The Private Banking Manager will focus on lending (mortgages), wealth and deposit growth, and manage all aspects of the customer relationship within the portfolio, including preparation of credit applications and ensuring clients have full knowledge of the Bank’s services.


Main Responsibilities

* Develop and grow a portfolio of new and existing private banking customers, providing high levels of customer service, external networking, and business development.
* Build a deep understanding of the local business market and referral networks, and maintain strong relationships with professional firms, brokers and business introducers to support sustained growth.
* Identify cross‑selling opportunities across the bank’s product offerings to deliver tailored solutions for customers.
* Communicate a clear message to market and customers about the Bank’s value proposition and differentiation.
* Evaluate and interpret financial information and lending proposals, structuring transactions and applying commercial and risk‑balanced decisions in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy and lending discretion.
* Partner closely with functional stakeholders to ensure customers receive the full range of Handelsbanken services.
* Operate in line with the Bank’s Risk Management framework and relevant risk and compliance policies, ensuring timely escalation of concerns to line managers.


Ideal Candidate

* A strong desire and proven success in business development, including originating new customer business.
* Experience managing a portfolio of professionals, business owners and high net worth individuals, ideally in a relationship‑focused banking model, brokerage, financial advisory or similar.
* Familiarity with local market dynamics, professional networks and referral‑based development.
* Ability to influence, build and maintain professional relationships, acting as an ambassador for Handelsbanken.
* Track record of identifying cross‑selling opportunities.
* Experience with lending processes and credit analysis.
* A collaborative working style with strong stakeholder management and shared success focus.
* Attention to detail, structured approach, high integrity and discretion, with resilience in a changing environment.
