Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering company in Nottingham specialising in bespoke machinery design and manufacture. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead projects from concept through to completion and play a key role in the development of custom-built mechanical solutions.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop bespoke machinery and automated systems using SolidWorks.
* Produce detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and full technical documentation for manufacture.
* Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from concept design and prototyping to testing and final production.
* Liaise with internal teams, including manufacturing, electrical, and production departments, to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
* Conduct design reviews, calculations, and tolerance analysis to ensure performance and reliability.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
* Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within the design process.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in designing bespoke machinery or special-purpose equipment.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks (essential).
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines.
