GSL Education are seeking hardworking and dependable Caretakers to work in schools across Newcastle.
As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of the school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are practical, proactive, and committed to supporting the smooth running of school sites.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
* Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of school buildings and grounds
* Carry out general maintenance and minor repair tasks
* Ensure school premises are kept in good condition and safe for staff and students
* Open and close school buildings as required
* Monitor heating, lighting, and basic facility systems
* Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school activities and events
* Report any health and safety issues or maintenance concerns promptly
* Work closely with school staff to support daily operations
Requirements of a Caretaker:
* Previous experience in caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities roles is desirable
* Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
* Practical and hands-on approach to work
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
* Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
* Good communication skills and teamwork ability
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
