File Handler Assistant - Counter Fraud
The File Handler Assistant role involves carrying out delegated actions in case strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes in cases. The Assistant will not own any cases but will perform file‑handling tasks in support of the File Handlers.

Role Description
The role covers procedural drafting and compliance, investigations, evidential reviews, and ensuring file management runs proactively to assist strategic decision‑making. Exposure will be to various fraud claim types including:
* Bogus Passenger
* Staged/Contrived
* Fraudulent Exaggeration
* Induced Accidents
* Low Speed Impact
* Late Notification Claims
* Credit Hire Fraud
* MIB Claims
* Organised Crime
Key Accountabilities
Litigation
* Procedural drafting
Investigations
* Evidential reviews and assessments
* Co‑ordination with policyholders and witnesses
* Proofing of key witnesses
* Work with counsel
* Instruct experts (internal and/or external suppliers)
Resolution
* Negotiation of third‑party costs in accordance with CPR
* Drafting settlement documentation
Occasionally, the Assistant may assist with strategic case reviews to support technical progression.

Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm (1 unpaid lunch hour). Primary location: Parklands, Bolton office. Agile workers are required to attend the office at least one day per week.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
* Interest in law (e.g., LPC or ILEX) or experience in a process‑driven legal environment
* Experience drafting court documents and understanding legal processes
* Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills
* Effective organisational and prioritisation skills with initiative
* Calm under pressure with the ability to re‑prioritise and delegate effectively
* Analytical skills for evidence assessment
* Good literacy and IT skills
* Team‑working ability with flexibility to achieve client service levels
