Audit & Accounts Manager

We’re working with a well-established, growing accountancy practice in Chester that’s looking to recruit an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified professional ready to take ownership of a mixed portfolio, manage a dedicated team, and contribute to the ongoing success of a firm with a strong reputation for quality and client service.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be managing client relationships, reviewing technical work, and supporting junior team development, while also working closely with the firm’s leadership on planning and workflow management.
Role Responsibilities
* Managing a mixed portfolio of audit and accounts clients across various sectors
* Leading audit assignments from planning through to finalisation
* Reviewing statutory accounts prepared under UK GAAP/FRS 102
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients as a key point of contact
* Supervising and mentoring a team of trainees and seniors, conducting reviews and providing feedback
* Ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and in line with professional standards
* Liaising with partners on complex queries, client service strategies, and technical issues
* Monitoring WIP, billing, and resource planning for your portfolio

Candidate Requirements
* ACA or ACCA qualified
* Significant experience in a UK accountancy practice
* Strong technical knowledge of audit standards, UK GAAP, and FRS 102
* Proven ability to manage both audit and accounts assignments
* Confident communicator with strong client management skills
* Skilled in team leadership and development
* Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
