Marketing and Business Development Assistant

An established, forward-thinking UK law firm is looking for a Marketing and Business Development Assistant to join its regional team in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for events, communications, and business development to gain hands-on experience in a professional services environment that values inclusion, sustainability, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Organise and manage client-facing events including seminars, webinars, and conferences.
* Assist in preparing marketing materials such as press releases and social media content.
* Provide administrative support across marketing and BD activities including diary, travel, and budget coordination.
* Support communications and campaign activities to enhance brand visibility.
* Help develop market and client insights to drive business development strategy.
* Attend local networking events to help raise the firm’s profile in the region.
* Coordinate legal directory submissions and monitor deadlines.
About You
* Experience working in marketing or BD, ideally within professional services (12–18 months preferred).
* Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
* Creative thinker with a flexible, can-do approach and good attention to detail.
* Comfortable liaising with stakeholders across departments and at events.
* Strong time-management and organisational abilities.
* Familiarity with social media and digital tools; design skills are a plus.
* CIM qualification or interest in studying towards one is welcomed.
* Willingness to occasionally work outside standard hours for events.
