A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated Construction Teacher to lead practical and theoretical lessons. This is a fantastic opportunity for a QTS-qualified or vocationally experienced teacher who wants to equip students with real-world skills for future careers in the construction and trades industries.
The Role
You’ll teach Construction and the Built Environment to KS4 pupils in a well-resourced vocational setting. The curriculum focuses on practical skills, health and safety, construction processes, and industry knowledge.
Responsibilities Include:
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons covering key construction topics
* Teach practical sessions including measuring, drawing, and planning
* Prepare students for vocational qualifications and assessments
* Promote safe working practices in all lessons
* Support learners’ career aspirations through industry-relevant teaching
Essential Requirements:
* QTS or industry-recognised teaching qualification
* Background in construction or a related trade (carpentry, brickwork, etc.)
* Ability to deliver both theory and practical elements
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
* Experience with BTEC Construction or City & Guilds qualifications
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation
* Familiarity with CAD software or technical drawing
* Enthusiasm for mentoring students into apprenticeships or further training
