At Turner Free School, we don’t just want to 'improve provision'—we want to redefine what a school can achieve. We are looking for a Head of School who believes that a child’s postcode shouldn't dictate their potential, especially for our highest-attaining pupils who deserve to be stretched, challenged, and inspired every single day.
Turner Free School enjoys a strong local reputation; we are oversubscribed in applications to join Year 7 and have a successful Sixth Form which attracts an increasing number of external candidates each year. Our pupils follow an exciting academic curriculum rooted in the STEAM subjects—science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Beyond this, they immerse themselves in languages, music, and drama, learning to think like engineers. Underpinned by our core values—innovate, collaborate, and celebrate—we challenge all pupils to be aspirational and build their own pathways to success.
The Leadership Challenge
The Head of School Principal must demonstrate a proven track record of rapid school improvement and improved outcomes. We need an established, successful educational leader with the drive to ensure continued success and the vision to deliver change in the years ahead. Due to our planned growth, there are excellent progression opportunities within the Trust.
We’ve laid the foundations; now we need you to:
* Drive outcomes for high-prior-attainment students, ensuring they compete with the best in the country.
* Work alongside our CEO to self-evaluate with radical honesty and implement teaching strategies that actually stick.
* Lead a team of ambitious Vice Principals and middle leaders who are hungry for mentorship and clear direction.
* Be the face of the school for our families and the wider Folkestone community.
The right candidate will be an excellent communicator who understands the power of collaboration and shares our vision to transform children’s futures, empower families, and strengthen communities.
Are You:
* An experienced leader with a track record of 'rapid' not being fast enough?
* A champion of diversity who brings a fresh perspective to our leadership table?
* Ambitious—not just for the school, but for your own career?
