Job Title: Firearms Administration Officer- HC621087
Location: Mottisfont Court, Tower Street, Winchester
Salary: Scale 5, £29,109 - £31,296 per annum Pro Rata (£17,701 - £19,031)
Contract: Part time
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive administrative functions within the Firearms Licensing Department, ensuring compliance with legislation, Home Office guidance, and force policy, with the primary goal of maintaining public safety.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Processing, analyzing, and assessing applications for firearm, shotgun, and explosive certificates, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
2. Interrogating police databases to research applications and gather relevant information about applicants.
3. Carrying out initial risk assessments of applications and forwarding them to the Firearms Enquiry Officer for further investigation.
4. Reviewing information related to renewal and grant applications to determine if they can be approved or require further action.
5. Performing clerical tasks related to certificates, permits, and records management, including processing permits, updating addresses, and managing firearm transactions.
6. Using Force computer systems for record management and ensuring data accuracy.
7. Communicating with the public, colleagues, and external partners, providing advice and support.
Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 2 (3 to 5 passes including English and Maths) or equivalent work experience.
Extensive administration experience in a customer-focused environment.
Competencies and Personal Qualities
Levels in emotional awareness, ownership, collaboration, support and inspiration, critical analysis, and openness to innovation at Level 1.
