Role Overview
Title: Security Officer
Location: Caldicot
Salary: £12.99 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week (including nights)
Grade: Site Based
Purpose: To provide a security service at the working location in line with the Assignment Instructions and customer requirements in order to protect the customer’s employees, property and other assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular safety and security patrols of the premises.
* Ensure compliance with all site regulations, procedures and assignment instructions.
* Support emergency procedures, including evacuations and site searches.
* Maintain vigilance at all times, report incidents promptly and prevent disruption.
* Accurately maintain records of all activities, incidents and shift handovers.
* Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site; monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate.
* Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions as required.
* Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate.
* Manage keys and perform locking/unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
* Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
* Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions and maintain accurate records of all passes issued.
* Deal with lost property in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
* Provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises.
* Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times and report all faults, hazards and unsafe working practices to the supervisor/manager.
* Report and record all accidents in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
* Ensure all walkways and emergency escape routes are kept clear.
* Report any usage of First Aid equipment and shortfalls in the contents of First Aid boxes.
* Notify the Securitas Operations Centre in the event of any emergencies and follow instructions given.
* Investigate the cause of all fire alarm activations.
Qualifications
* Valid SIA Licence (required).
* First Aid qualification (required).
* Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the security industry.
* Right to work in the UK.
* 5-year checkable work history.
* Willing to undertake a fire safety course provided by the company.
* Reasonable commuting distance to the site.
* Good organisational skills.
* Reliable and customer-focused with a commitment to delivering exemplary service.
* Must be over 18.
* No current criminal convictions.
* Full UK driving licence and own transport desirable.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Be punctual and reliable.
* Willing and able to work shifts covering days, nights and weekends.
* Must be working towards acquiring a valid SIA Licence to work as a Security Officer.
* Have a five-year checkable employment history or evidence for any periods of unemployment.
