Job Description:
PTSG Electrical Services Ltd is the UK’s leading provider of lightning and surge protection services. Our specialists design, install and commission bespoke systems as well as providing testing and inspections, repairs and maintenance and upgrades. Our other main area of expertise is electrical testing, encompassing fixed wire and portable appliance testing.
Job Purpose:
We have a new opportunity for a Lightning Protection Test & Repair Engineer to join the growing team. Within this role, you will be carrying out lightning protection system inspections, testing, and repairs on a variety of buildings and structures in a safe and professional manner. This will also involve checking and reporting compliance against established industry standards to provide the required certification to the client.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Undertake physical tests and visual inspections against agreed work orders from clients, completing multiple jobs each day.
2. Produce reports for each site and system tested using standard forms and checklists, ensuring required certification can be produced internally and provided to the client.
3. Identify any remedial or repair works required using technical knowledge and a deep understanding of British Standards, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Complete remedial works as highlighted from previous inspection visits, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
5. Maintain own vehicle and equipment to a high standard, driving carefully and respectfully at all times.
Lightning Protection is a key niche service for PTSG, requiring clients to undertake testing at least once a year. The work is generally outdoors and at height, requiring access to rooftops and difficult-to-reach places. Manual handling and work at height are frequent activities, typically completed in a two-person team.
All works are to be completed in accordance with all RAMS and national safety standards, ensuring high standards of personal and site safety are applied at all times.
Role Dimensions:
1. Individual contributor reporting to an Operations or Contracts leader.
2. Customer facing – represents the company and our brand.
3. National role with periodic time away from home depending on customer need.
Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience):
1. Strong experience in lightning protection (testing, repair, or installation background).
2. NVQ 2 or NVQ3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer.
3. Customer facing experience in a field service environment.
4. Good planning and organisation skills.
5. CSCS Card Holder.
6. Full UK driving license.
