At Quantum Scholars, we are looking for dedicated, empathetic, and adaptable SEND Education Tutors to deliver bespoke 1:1 tuition and intervention support to pupils across Wokingham and the wider Berkshire area.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with learners who require alternative educational provision, helping them overcome barriers to learning, rebuild confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in education, mentoring, youth work, pastoral care, SEND support, alternative provision, tutoring, teaching assistance, and other child-focused roles.
The Role
As a SEND Education Tutor, you will work on a one-to-one basis with primary and secondary-aged pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education or require additional support beyond the classroom environment.
You will create engaging, tailored learning experiences that meet each student's unique needs, interests, and learning style while supporting their overall wellbeing and personal development.
Sessions are typically delivered during school hours and take place either in the pupil's home or within appropriate community settings.
Who You'll Be Supporting
The young people we support may present with a range of needs, including:
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Behavioural and emotional challenges
School avoidance, school refusal, and anxiety
Medical conditions impacting school attendance
Gaps in education due to exclusion or alternative provision placements
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 tutoring sessions
Plan and adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and abilities
Support pupils in core subjects, including English and Maths
Foster positive relationships built on trust, consistency, and encouragement
Promote confidence, resilience, independence, and self-esteem
Support emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning
Monitor progress and provide feedback where required
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Encourage positive routines, attendance, and educational participation
Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals when appropriate

What We're Looking For
We are seeking individuals who are:
Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs
Patient, resilient, and able to adapt their approach to different learners
Confident in managing challenging behaviours and supporting emotional needs
Strong communicators with excellent relationship-building skills
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND or additional needs
Background in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, youth work, pastoral support, intervention work, or similar roles
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Full Right to Work in the UK
Ability to travel to in-person sessions across Wokingham and surrounding Berkshire areas
Desirable Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Teaching, SEND, or education-related qualifications
Degree-level education in a relevant subject area
Experience delivering alternative provision or intervention programmesPlease note that we are unable to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this position.
