Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable ICT / Computing Teacher to join a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in Leicester. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
The ICT / Computing Teacher will inspire students to develop strong digital, computational and problem-solving skills, preparing them for further study and future careers in a rapidly evolving digital world. The postholder will contribute positively to the wider life of the school and support the development of an engaging and ambitious computing curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in ICT and Computing in line with the national curriculum.
Teach a range of topics including digital literacy, programming, data representation and computer systems.
Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and external examinations.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners and promote positive progress and outcomes.
Assess, monitor and track student progress and provide timely and constructive feedback.
Contribute to the development and review of the ICT and Computing curriculum.
Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and engagement.
Support enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities related to computing and digital technologies.
Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the wider school.
Take part in staff meetings, training and professional development activities.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
A relevant degree in Computing, ICT or a closely related subject.
Experience of teaching ICT and/or Computing at secondary level.
Strong subject knowledge across the Computing and ICT curriculum.
The ability to deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that motivate students of all abilities.
A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting the progress of all learners.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching and learning.
Experience of teaching GCSE and/or A level Computing is desirable.
