The office is well-located and easily commutable from both Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester train stations. This council has a robust and well-structured in-house legal team which is growing and looking to appoint specialist lawyers to provide legal support within social services.
You will support a busy in-house legal department as a qualified local government lawyer. You will work on a caseload of adult and child safeguarding matters and provide advice internally to council committees and appeals panels. You will be required to attend court hearings and must be available to family courts across the local area. What you'll need to succeed.
You will be a qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate and experience in adult safeguarding matters, childcare protection law and court of protection matters. You will have a good academic record plus strong and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a good understanding of public law and safeguarding procedures.
